I'm two weeks in to a part time CELTA course at a language school in London and things seem to be going well so far.
The course takes place for three hours on a Tuesday evening, three hours on a Thursday evening and a full day every other Saturday. Last night we had our first go at teaching, after four sessions of 'input' (as they call it) from our own teachers.
My twenty five minutes at the front of the class seemed to go fairly well, all things considered. I had no major disasters and almost enjoyed the experience. When I first stood up there I was extremely nervous. I think the students noticed that my hand was shaking uncontrollably as I used a board marker to point out a picture to them. Very quickly, however, I started to feel a lot more comofortable. In fact, most of the trainee teachers did't do to badly at all!
I now have my next teaching point to prepare for next and am looking forward to it, especially now we've had feedback from our teacher and know what to do and what not to do next time.
